Madame Tussaud’s Museum in London

Madame Tussaud’s is one of London’s most popular sights in London counting some 3.7 million visitors a year. In order to avoid the long queues particularly in summer that people arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon. It is the waxworks as it was once known dates back two and a half centuries and Madam Tussaud’s herself started life modeling the heads of people killed during the French Revolution; 200 years exhibition shows her working on a death mask from the head of Marie Antoinette in her original studio.

The modern Madame Tussaud’s is made up of the Garden Party exhibition at the beginning, where all of us can have their picture taken alongside celebrities from Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Grant to Whoopi Goldberg.

The Grand Hall is where you will come across models of world leaders past and present, including Nelson Mandela and the Royal family, Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Princess of Wales Diana, the pop singers Beatles.

In the spirit of London (time taxi) one can sit in a mock up of London black cab and are whipped through a five minute summary of London’s history. The models are great here.

The chamber of Horrors has models of contemporary (London) prisoners such as Dennis Nilsen involved in Muswell Hill Murderer sitting uneasily alongside representations of historic horrors.

And the best part is because of the popularity of Indian celebrities Madam Tussaud’s museum has added one more section named as bollywood which includes the was models of Amitabh Bachahan, Aishwaraya Rai, Shahrukh Khan and the recently added Salman Khan
